Owner/operator Yolanda van Petten started her painting and decorating career as an artist. She has a creative flair and a skilled hand which with her remarkable eye for colour make her a resource worth tapping. She has been applying paint, wallpaper and texture to walls since the early 1980's and has experimented with many interesting and bold techniques. Yolanda can think from within your style and color preference from observing your current home furnishings, clothing choices and mannerisms together with the requests and ideas you present to help you craft a home that expresses the best of your taste and vision.
Husband Dan Sims has been a flooring installer since he graduated from high school and has many talents for construction and repair to help enhance your home's final result. He can professionally and competently install carpet, vinyl, laminate and all types of tile including ceramics. If you're looking for that creative touch, Dan has the creative eye, skills, and experience to give you what you're looking for.

Villa Sub Rosa maintains the highest intentions in all workmanship. The job isn't finished until you say it is finished. Work is done to your satisfaction and if it fails to perform in months to come, we will return and address the problem without additional labour costs. We are committed to reducing toxicity in the environment and your air space. Because of this water based materials are used whenever and where ever possible. There are times when alkyd based (oil/paint thinner) paints or primers cannot be avoided, but with todays new modern acrylic base paints this is becoming less and less frequent. One can now use 100% acrylic water based paints available from Northern Paint Canada to achieve the same lasting brilliance once known only from alkyd based paints. Northern Paint's Super Acrylic paint can be painted over alkyd based paints without primer if properly sanded. These paints come in all of the traditional sheens (although only the light base colors come in high gloss) and dry to a brilliant long lasting and very scrubbable surface with a delightfully silky texture that will have you stroking your door frames with joy.
Many painters are uncomfortable using these paints as they require a very high skill level due to the speed at which they dry. One must move fast and neat and leave a flawless texture behind as one goes to achieve a proper job using this material. This fast drying action, in the right hands, can be an advantage as one need not wait until the following day to add another coat of paint in some circumstances.

Other interior services include basic wallpaper hanging, application of specialty paint textures and finishes (not trompe l'oel nor faux marble), custom pictorial work like murals and hand painted details, plus trowel application wall and ceiling textures in Spantex stucco for truly unique decorating solutions. Flooring solutions may also be discussed and this is the ideal time to consider renewing your floors while the furniture is out and the walls newly refurbished.
